Cosmos staking with Everstake: APR, 8% commission, 21-day unbonding
If you're interested in generating ATOM staking rewards via delegating, these are the parameters that you need to know, please note that the APR is fluctuating based on protocol parameters and you’ll see the relevant APR at the time of staking.
How ATOM staking rewards accrue on Cosmos Hub
Cosmos Hub distributes staking rewards from newly issued ATOM and transaction fees among bonded stake based on each validator's delegated amount. When you delegate to Everstake, the 8% commission is deducted from the rewards generated by your delegation, not from your delegated ATOM.
Your rewards remain unclaimed until you choose to claim them in your wallet. If you enable automatic compounding through Restake.app or Exodus, the rewards can instead be claimed and redelegated automatically.
The delegation gives the validator voting and block-production rights associated with your stake, while you retain ownership of your ATOM.
Undelegating ATOM: what the 21-day unbonding period means
Cosmos Hub supports three actions for managing an active or unbonding delegation:
- Undelegate: ends the delegation and starts the 21-day unbonding period. No rewards accrue during this time.
- Redelegate: no need to undelegate if you want to change validators, it simply moves your delegation from one validator to another immediately, without an unbonding period.
- Cancel unbonding: returns ATOM that is already in the unbonding queue to an active delegation before the 21-day period ends.
Slashing and risks when delegating ATOM
If a validator violates network rules, Cosmos Hub can apply a slashing penalty to its bonded stake, including the stake delegated to it.
A validator could get hit with a 5% slash and a permanent ban for double-signing, a tiny 0.01% slash plus a short 10-minute jailing for too much downtime, with downtime judged over a rolling 10,000-block window in which they must sign at least 5% of blocks.
Slashing is a network-level risk that applies to delegations on Cosmos Hub. As with any staking delegation, there is no guarantee that a validator will avoid penalties or that the value of ATOM will remain unchanged.
Everstake maintains a pristine record of 0 material slashing on major networks since the company’s inception and we are determined to keep it this way for our delegators.
How to delegate ATOM to the Everstake validator
You can delegate ATOM to Everstake directly through a supported wallet.
The Keplr Wallet deep link pre-selects the Everstake validator, so you can review the delegation and confirm it directly in your wallet.
For other wallets, you can follow the relevant guide for Exodus Wallet, Trust Wallet, Ledger Live, CoolWallet, Guarda Wallet, NOW Wallet (mobile), or the full walkthrough at How to Stake Cosmos (ATOM).
If your wallet isn't listed, you can delegate directly to the Everstake validator using:

Before or after delegating, you can also verify the validator and delegation on Mintscan, PingPub, or AtomScan.
Why ATOM holders delegate to the Everstake validator
Running a Cosmos Hub validator requires a high-performance node setup, reliable hardware and well-maintained software with the dedicated team of engineers.
Everstake operates a dedicated Cosmos Hub validator and maintains the infrastructure needed to participate in consensus reliably, with 0 slashing incidents on Cosmos since inception.
The Everstake Cosmos Hub validator has consistently been in top-10 validators by stake, reflecting the community trust.
Being closely involved in the Cosmos ecosystem for years, check out the in-depth reports on Cosmos development, trends, and network activity prepared and published by researchers from Everstake R&D department:
Delegators can also reach Everstake's support team through Discord.
Delegations above $500,000 in ATOM
For larger delegations, see Everstake institutional staking for delegations above $500,000 or contact the Everstake team to discuss your delegation.
Cosmos airdrops ATOM delegators have received
Several Cosmos ecosystem chains have distributed tokens to ATOM delegators, including Osmosis, Persistence, Juno, Comdex, and Lum Network.
Airdrop eligibility is determined by the issuing chain, not by Everstake. Each project sets its own snapshot dates and eligibility requirements, so past distributions should not be taken as an indication of future airdrops.
