TL;DR

Everstake operates a non-custodial Cardano stake pool that ADA holders delegate to directly from their own wallet; the ADA never leaves the delegator's wallet, and Everstake never holds the keys.

Full staking details ↓

  • ADA is Cardano's native token, the current staking APR is 1.83%. The Everstake pool charges a 4% margin on staking rewards.

  • The minimum is 2 ADA plus transaction fees, with 4 ADA recommended.

  • There is no lock-up: delegated ADA can be spent or redelegated at any time, with no unbonding period and no slashing on Cardano.

  • Rewards are paid once per epoch. A Cardano epoch lasts 5 days, and the first reward arrives roughly 20 days after delegating, because the pool needs two epochs before it can produce blocks for the new stake and two more before it pays out.

  • Everstake also runs a registered Cardano DRep, so the same operator can carry an ADA holder's governance vote.

The Everstake Cardano Staking: fee, saturation and pledge

On Cardano, ADA holders delegate to a specific staking contract. The ADA stays in the delegator's wallet and is simply assigned to that contract. A pool produces blocks in proportion to the stake delegated to it and shares the rewards among its delegators, keeping a margin for the operator, in this case it is 4%.

Two numbers describe a pool's health.

  • Pledge is the ADA the operator commits to its own pool as a stake in its performance: Everstake pledges 1.50K ADA (a subject to change).
  • Saturation is how full the pool is in terms of Cardano's cap of roughly 64M ADA (set by the K parameter, currently K=500, a subject to change). If the amount of ADA in that staking contract is higher, the rewards per ADA fall due to oversaturation.

To view Everstake’s saturation percentage, please check Everstake on Cardanoscan.

Cardano staking rewards: APR, 5-day epochs and the 20-day first reward

The Everstake pool's reward rate (APR) can be viewed through the staking calculator on this page. Cardano pays rewards once per epoch, which is every 5 days.

The first payout takes about 20 days because of how the protocol schedules a new stake: the blocks for freshly delegated ADA start to produce two epochs after delegation, then rewards are distributed two epochs after that. Rewards are added to the staked balance automatically each epoch and compound without the need to claim manually.

To estimate rewards for a specific amount, use the Cardano staking calculator on this page.

How to delegate ADA to Everstake in 4 steps

  1. Open a Cardano wallet that supports stake delegation.
  2. Search for Everstake inside the wallet's staking or delegation screen.
  3. Delegate your ADA to the Everstake staking contract.
  4. Wait for the epoch boundary: rewards accrue after 20 days and arrive every epoch after that.

Delegating ADA is non-custodial. The ADA stays in the delegator's own wallet, and Everstake, as the staking operator, can produce blocks with that stake but cannot move, spend or freeze it. Undelegating or switching pools takes effect from the next epoch boundary.

Everstake's DRep: delegating ADA voting power on Cardano

Cardano governance runs through DReps, delegated representatives who vote on-chain on behalf of ADA holders, much like parliamentary representatives carry the votes of constituents. Everstake operates a registered Cardano DRep.

Two points to consider for delegators:

  1. Stake delegation and vote delegation are two separate on-chain actions: choosing the Everstake staking contract for rewards does not delegate your governance vote, and vice versa.
  2. Cardano governance rules affect how staking rewards are withdrawn, so make sure to follow the network for the current requirement.

Everstake pool vs exchange staking for ADA

Both routes generate ADA rewards. However, they differ on custody, transparency and control.

Staking ADA through the Everstake pool and staking through an exchange differ mainly in who holds the keys. With the Everstake pool, staking is non-custodial: the keys stay in your wallet, and you delegate directly from it. On an exchange , the platform holds the keys, though you can buy and stake in one place under a single login.

The pool’s economics are also more transparent. Everstake charges a 4% margin, and the pool’s ID, saturation and pledge are public on Cardanoscan. Exchanges take a platform commission whose details are not disclosed. The Everstake pool has no lock-up, so you can spend or redelegate your ADA at any time.

Exchange terms vary, and some “flexible” products may stake only part of your balance. Delegating to the pool also lets you assign your ADA voting power to Everstake’s registered DRep, a governance option exchanges typically don’t offer.

What is Cardano: Ouroboros, layered architecture and the 2026 upgrades

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain built on peer-reviewed research, with a layered architecture that separates the settlement layer (moving ADA) from the computation layer (smart contracts) to keep each simpler to secure and scale. Its Ouroboros consensus lets ADA holders delegate to stake pools and share in rewards without running hardware, and without the energy cost of proof-of-work.

In 2026 the network moved to community-governed upgrades: the Van Rossem hard fork advanced Cardano to Protocol Version 11 through on-chain voting alone, and Ouroboros Leios is the proposed throughput redesign now in public testing.

To get deeper context, please read Everstake’s materials on Cardano's Van Rossem hard fork explained and what Ouroboros Leios means for Cardano throughput.
